May 6 – 12 is National Nurses Week…Join Central New Hampshire VNA & Hospice in Thanking Nurses for all their Hard Work

According to the American Nurses Association (ANA), there are around 3.1 million registered Alton VNA Rochester Lakes Region Nursenurses in the United States. As the largest occupation in health care, nurses are integral to hospitals, clinics and other health care organizations around the nation. National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6th and ends on May 12th, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. The purpose of the week-long celebration is to raise awareness of the value of nursing and help educate the public about the role nurses play in meeting the health care needs of the American people.

Even with more than 3 million registered nurses in the United States, a shortage of experienced nurses is an industry concern as a disproportionate number of nurses will soon be reaching retirement age. With the need for healthcare staff on the rise, another goal Central New Hampshire VNA & Hospice has during this recognition week is to promote pursuing a career in home healthcare. What are the advantages of working in home healthcare? Different from facility based care such as a hospital or nursing home, the clinician partners with one patient at a time, in their home, providing skilled care, education about their medical treatments and guides their client to reach goals for a return to independence.
